Citizens are often called upon to serve as jurors
Jurors perform a vital role in the American system of justice and jury service is considered to be a high duty of citizenship.
Jurors are selected to serve based on voter registration, driver’s license information and income tax filers. This information is maintained on a central computer database at the General Services Department in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Upon order of the court, names are selected by computer from this database. This computer is programmed so that names are selected at random; therefore, there is no discrimination that may be exercised.
No one is excluded from service because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, economic status or occupation.
The juror qualification/questionnaire that you are being asked to fill out is essential and saves time when the jury trial panels are selected.
If summoned to serve as a juror, we urge that you serve. Besides, you might enjoy it. Most jurors tell us they do.
Every SUMMONS TO JURY SERVICE must have a completed Questionnaire and Qualification submission, which you may submit online at: https://jurorportal.nmcourts.xyz (If you do not have internet access, there are kiosks/computers available at the court you were summoned to).
Jury selection is generally for a 6-month period, unless otherwise instructed. The court is normally in session Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m.
The call to serve on a jury does not frequently come, and such an opportunity may never be repeated during your lifetime. Jury service is an obligation of citizenship. It represents your contribution to our democratic way of life. The sacrifice it compels-and for many of you it is a major sacrifice-enlarges the value of its rendition.
The United States Constitution and the New Mexico Constitution guarantee the right to trial by jury. All Quay, De Baca, and Harding County residents are obligated by state law to serve as a juror unless they are under the age of 18, not a citizen, found incompetent by a court of law or are no longer a resident of the county in which they were called. This site has been designed to help you answer any questions you may have regarding jury service.

The Court provides beverages to empaneled jurors. Meals will be provided only to jurors who are in deliberation or sequestered. At other times, you will be responsible for your own meal but will be paid jury time through the lunch hour.
Jurors may dress casually but befitting the dignity of the Court. Shorts are not permitted. Do not wear clothing that will cause a distraction. Jurors are urged to bring a sweater or light jacket due to the courtrooms can be chilly during the winter months or the air conditioner may be too cool for some during the summer.
For jurors’ safety as well as for the staff and other court patrons, bailiffs will be performing security checks prior to entry into the courtroom.
The 10th District Court is a weapon free zone.
No knives or weapons of any kind are allowed.
Only clear, sealed bottles of water allowed. The court will provide bottled water upon request.
Please do not bring cell phone, hand bags, or purses to any court proceedings.
